I am with my father

Saturday. February 16, 2007. My father arrived in Manila at about 4:36am. We took a chat over a cup of coffee before taking a simple nap. At exactly 9:18 in the morning we took our way going to Mall of Asia, MOA. We rode a tricycle from Krus na Ligas to Philcoa. Then, we rode a jeepney going to MRT and took the train up to Taft Avenue Station. From there, we rode a jeepney again going to MOA. After we get there, we decided to roam around riding the mall cart. Here is our photo.

We went down to the Southwing cart waiting station near McDonald's. Luckily, Mcdonald's mascot was there and I took a picture with him. We took our lunch in the Food Court and at exactly 12:14pm we took our way to Farmer's Market in Cubao following the same route except that we need to get down at Cubao Station in the MRT.

Centennial Theme

“UP: Excellence, Service, and Leadership in the Next 100 Years”*

The University of the Philippines is moving into the future with goals that are ever more expansive. Excellence takes the form of not only developing but also discovering new areas of knowledge. Service goes beyond conducting research to include designing workable and effective action plans. And leadership demands transforming the nation through pioneering endeavors that serve as blueprints for national development.

Concretely, this kinetic dash into the next century involves rationalizing UP’s program offerings, strengthening its position as the leading research university, firming up its science and technology programs, and developing a community of scholars with academic credentials comparable to their counterparts in the best universities in the world. For UP, the next century has just begun.

*The UP Centennial theme, "UP: Excellence, Service, and Leadership in the Next 100 Years," was decided upon during the 7th Centennial Commission Meeting on April 25, 2007.

Description of the UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES CENTENNIAL LOGO 1908-2008

The Oblation is a symbolic icon representing the UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES. It captures the UP spirit, which has endured for a century: the country’s youth sacrificing itself in the service of the country. This figure is in the foreground of the UP Centennial logo.

Behind it is the Sablay, the sash worn by UP students upon their graduation. It is distinctive, in that across it is inscribed the word “UP” in Alibata letters. This is symbolic of the University’s commitment to remaining the country’s premier institution of higher learning.

Behind the figure of the Oblation is a globe, with the map of the Philippines highlighted. This represents the University’s taking its rightful place in the world as the National University of the Philippines.

Colors:
The University’s official colors - forest green and maroon
Alibata inscription on the Sablay - yellow

Crab

This are my sister's pets. Crabs!

Locally known to us as Kappi (kap-pee) with scientific name Scylla serrata paramamosain Estampador. It is known as edible mud crab in english. They are usually found on fresh water like rivers and irrigation. It is smaller than the usual alimango found in the market and bigger than the crab playing on the sea shore. They thrive under the big stones as their protective habitat. Cooked crab in Sprite is a delicacy in our place.

Enjoy naman, to be FAIR

I can say that the first night of UP Fair became very successful and peaceful.

People
The place was full of people. There were jumping jologs everywhere causing commotion during the performances of Parokya, Kamikazee and Bamboo. They were jumping, head banging, and smoking, take note with damo. They didn't care even they stepped on you or worst they will push you away just to have a place to dance. They made the concert area a disco bar.
There were people also who were taking advantage on you. If you are very busy watching or taking photos, they will find a chance to get your things in your pocket. Advice to those first timers, wear a fitted jeans and don't bring your valuables. Be attentive and sensitive al the time.

Place
The place was surrounded with booths for food and drinks, some sari-sari stores, and fun booths like tsubibo, caterpillar, wall climbing, henna tatoos, Frenzy, videoke, and many more. It was able to accommodate everybody. It was very tiring to stand because there are no chairs around.

Performance
I enjoyed all of the bands especially Kamikazee, Parokya ni Edgar and Bamboo. As expected from Kamikazee and Parokya, their performance was at the highest level and very entertaining.
This photo was taken after Bamboo's performance. It was around two in the morning already. That's me with Kuya Thonz.

It is a Hong Kong inspired bread from BreadOne Bakeshop located at Mall of Asia. It has a salad dressing and meat floss inside; with some ham, onion rings, sesame seeds toppings; and covered with meat floss on both sides. It is best eaten with the bakeshop's Iced Mocha Coffee.

The store is located at the 2nd floor, South Wing near Department store. They have a lot of breads to choose from with different flavors and looks. They also serve cakes and coffee.
